Birds and Bells

How many times

Must a bird hear a bell?

A sound that sends them

Barreling down to the gates of hell.

The sound is defining

And rings aloud,

All the birds fly away,

Up, up into the clouds.

And as we stand here

Watching the birds

Scatter here and there

We welcome the sound

And gather round

For a ceremony,

The heavenly sound of matrimony.
