Coats

Furs and leather
Come in racks and stores.
Everyone tries a layer
More Thick or thin
To hide all they can
That’s from the skin within.

And when the stores
Eventually run out
What will everyone
who is anybody do without?
When all the coats are gone
Will you keep yours on?

Try to keep your skin unguarded
Grow to be the fur and the leather
But as light as a feather
Run into the burning cold
To keep someone else safe and sound
From all the dangers that lurk around.
